How are NFTs created?

The popularity of NFTs among digital artists and creators continues to grow and for good reason, NFTs or Non-Fungible token have the particularity of being non-interchangeable, unlike other cryptocurrencies. In other words, each NFT is unique and can only exist in one version.

This authenticity parameter allows the artist to create a non-physical digital work and sell it safely and quickly via NFTs marketplaces. There are as many NFTs as there are artistic and creative ideas: NFTs can be works of art, pieces of music, tweets, short videos, domain names… Learn how NFTs are modeled in 2D and 3D.

Step 1: Choose the product

First of all, the designer must determine the item to be created. As mentioned before, it can be an image, a music, a video, a tweet etc. and this in 2D or 3D! This choice of product also influences the choice of marketplace because some platforms are specialized in the sale of particular products.

Step 2: Model your NFT

Once the product is chosen, the designer proceeds to the graphic modeling of it. More generally, for creations requiring a graphic part, softwares such as Photoshop or Illustrator are used for the modeling of future creations. The NFTs can, in fact, be created directly via the Photoshop software or imported after the creation.

For your information, the Adobe suite has developed an option dedicated to NFTs that allows the quick and easy export of a project as an NFT file, whether it is in 2D or 3D.  By linking the Adobe account to the crypto wallet, the user is assured of the authenticity of his product via the edition of a certificate attached to his digital creation.

Step 3: Use the right software

For 3D modeling, we use Blender and 3DS max. There are many software and all have tutorials for use. Blender is a free and open source software that allows the creation of 3D files and animations. Some software also offer models already created and usable for 3D animation like Mixamo or Sketchfab. These models and 3D animations are then imported into the software and allow the addition of a rig easily.

Step 4: Start creating

To create a 3D character, for example, you need to use the software to create shapes and textures. If the software makes the work easier, it is still necessary to count several hours of work before obtaining an optimized graphic realization. Indeed, many adjustments are proposed and refine the precision and the 3D rendering of the character. Then, the creator must perfect his project according to his inspirations, his plans or his desires. Blender offers enough tools and settings to create an infinite number of future NFTs to sell later.
